We are excited to announce that Standby Image to ESXi is now generally available! Partners wanted a more efficient way to address disaster recovery/business continuity cases for customers who use VMware hypervisors and we delivered. We also added the ability to select a network, change network settings, and introduced various UX enhancements.

Standby Image to ESXi will continue to be free of charge for the rest of March. However, we will begin billing for devices added to the ‘Standby Image (ESXi)’ plan on April 1. If you have a device added to multiple plans (Hyper-V, Azure, ESXi) simultaneously, you will only be charged once for ‘Continuity’.

We also added red/green contrast mode to key status colors for charts and the last 28 days color bar to improve the experience for color blind users.

Cove 24.3: Backup Manager Enhancements

With 24.3, we made several updates and fixes to Cove Backup Manager, which improve security and increase backup success rate for Windows and Linux devices, including:

  • False time difference detection fixed (Windows and Linux)
  • Exclusions for S1 added (Linux)
  • Automatic Installation via Proxy fixed (Linux)
  • Native System support (Linux)
  • Update and Installation Hardening (Linux)
  • Client-Side Certificate Validation (Linux)

Additionally, we optimized memory consumption on backup scanning and added the ability to perform VMware Delta-Restore to a different ESXi host.

Bare Metal Restore

We added the ability to display the installation key and security code during the bare metal restore (BMR) process—so you no longer need to re-enter the entire string if you make a mistake.

TLS 1.1/1.0 and Linux RPM/DEB packages End of Life

Starting May 31, 2024, in adherence with enhanced security measures, Cove Data Protection will no longer support Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.1 and 1.0 versions. We will discontinue the release of Linux RPM and DEB packages, as well.

With the end-of-life status for TLS 1.1 and 1.0, all versions of Backup Manager lower than 18.4 will no longer be operational. We urge you to update all your devices to the latest version of Backup Manager.

To make this process easier, we’ve prepared instructions for updating all operating systems. Given the discontinuation of RPM and DEB packages, we highly recommend migrating your devices to the RUN package using the same instructions.
